Library Membership and Loan Period
All students, faculty and employees of the college are entitled to Library membership. Library membership form is available at the Circulation Counter of the VKM Library. The Library has over 2000 valid members. For the renewal of membership, contact the Circulation counter. All Students, faculty and staff members are issued bar-coded patron cards. Their entitlements, in terms of the number of books that they can borrow, are as follows:

Borrowing Rules
- The readers should check the books thoroughly for missing pages, chapters, etc. while issuing them.
- No book in damaged condition will be accepted from the users on return. Damaged books will have to be replaced by the borrower
Issue & Return Timings
- Issue & return from General section can be done on all working days from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. except holidays.
- 2 books are issued from Book Bank to weaker section students for one semester.
- Project Books, Journals and Magazines will be issued for overnight from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. after depositing College ID Cards. These items should be returned from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. the next day on the first floor of the library.
- Books of Special collection should be issued for 7 days from 10a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 1st floor of the library.
Cost recovery of Lost Books by the Library members
Following is the approved criteria for recovering the cost of lost books by Librarymembers:
- The lost book should be replaced by a new book with overdue charges, if any and with processing charges of Rs. 100/- for each book.
- In case the book is out of print or not available in the market then the double of the cost mentioned in the Accession register should be charged with processing charges of Rs. 100/- for each book with overdue charges, if any.
- The cost of the book in foreign currency to be charged at the current conversion rate of the currency.
Overdue Fine
Items that are returned after the due date are considered overdue. Overdue fines are assessed at the following rates:
- Rs. 2.00 per day for the books issued from General Section
- Rs. 5.00 per day for the books issued from Project Book Section and Special Collection Book Section
Loss of Reader's Tickets/ Library cards
- The loss of the Reader's tickets should be reported to the Readers Services Section of the Library. The concerned section will issue duplicate Reader's tickets with the fine of Rs. 15 per ticket. Borrowers shall be responsible for any loss or misuse of their original/duplicate card/ticket.
Reservation of the Documents
- Students can reserve the desired book through OPAC or can contact Circulation Counter for reservation.
